Princess Diana's brother Charles, the 9th Earl Spencer, has tied the knot with former school teacher Caroline Freud in a quiet family ceremony at Althorp, the Spencer family estate.

The couple, both of whom had been previously married, wed Saturday in a civil ceremony attended by 80 family and friends, and later had a blessing at the family chapel.

No members of the royal family were present.

The bride, who met her husband when they were students at Oxford University, wore a long red gown.

Spencer, 36, has four children from his previous marriage to Victoria Lockwood. Freud has two children from her marriage to Matthew Freud, who now is married to Elizabeth Murdoch, daughter of media baron Rupert Murdoch.

Althorp, the Spencer family's historic home, is where Princess Diana was buried following her fatal 1997 car crash in Paris.
