Police Declare Case of Missing Alabama Mother a Criminal Investigation

The case of a missing Homewood mother has taken a new turn.

On Monday, Homewood police declared the case a criminal investigation and enlisted the help of the railroad where a purse belonging to 23-year-old Nadia Kersh was found.

Kersh went missing on Nov. 3 after daycare workers reported she did not pick up her son. She was last seen leaving her workplace at Tria Market in Homewood. Police said her vehicle was found abandoned in an alley in West Birmingham.

Authorities said they have strong leads and evidence linked to a male suspect.

The FBI is assisting in the investigation.

A $15,000 reward has been offered for information leading to an arrest.
