Police Arrest Student Who Claims She Brought Knife to School to Cut Apple

Police in Lima arrested a high school student who says she took a knife to school to cut an apple.

School officials suspended the 17-year-old and police charged her with delinquency by possession of a deadly weapon on school property.

Police say the girl did not threaten anyone.

A school employee saw the girl take the knife out of her locker.

The girl told the school's principal that she brought the knife to cut an apple at lunch.

Superintendent Karel Oxley says the district has a zero tolerance policy for any kind of knives on school grounds.
