A northern Idaho pharmacist has purchased ads saying embryonic stem-cell research has been over-hyped and is the wrong approach to finding cures for human ailments.

Brian Rothfusz bought the ads in the Lewiston Tribune and the Idaho Catholic Register.

He says he objects on moral grounds to research that treats embryos as anything other than humans, even if the embryos are obtained from fertility clinics that would otherwise dispose of them.

He also says adult stem cells have shown more promise in developing treatments.

Rothfusz says he hopes the ads cause residents to contact their elected representatives and public agencies in the federal government.
