NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Pauline Gore (search), whose son became vice president and nearly won a race for president and whose husband served a lengthy career in Congress, died in her hometown of Carthage Wednesday. She was 92.
"I can confirm that she is dead, and that's all I can say now," James Bass of Bass Funeral Home in Carthage said in a telephone interview.
Bass said Gore died Wednesday and that funeral arrangements were expected to be complete later in the day.
Gore, known for her bubbly personality and keen sense of politics, was a retired lawyer and familiar figure on the campaign trail in behalf of her son, former Vice President Al Gore (search), and her husband, Sen. Albert Gore Sr.
The cause of death was not immediately available but she had been in frail health for several years.
