Police say a patient has shot and wounded a nurse supervisor in a Connecticut hospital.

They say the nurse suffered a non-life-threatening wound during the Tuesday afternoon attack in the oncology department of Danbury Hospital. They say he was rushed to the emergency unit for treatment.

State and local police say one person is in custody. His identity hasn't been released. It's unclear what charges he's facing.

Police haven't said why the shooter had a gun in the hospital or what caused him to attack the nurse.

Danbury Hospital officials say they're not on lockdown and are continuing to admit and treat patients. The 12-floor hospital has nearly 400 beds and 4,000 employees.
