Israeli artillery killed a Palestinian teenager in the Gaza Strip on Monday, doctors said.
The Israeli army said artillery was fired against militants launching rockets toward Israel.
The artillery fire in the northern town of Beit Hanoun killed the Palestinian boy, 17, by hitting his home, and it lightly wounded a 2-year-old Palestinian boy in a nearby house, the doctors said.

Israel on June 28 launched a military offensive in the Gaza Strip to stop the militants firing of rockets at Israel, often from the Beit Hanoun area, and to retaliate for an attack on an army outpost that killed two soldiers and captured a third.
The offensive has destroyed farmland, houses, water pipes and electric lines in northern Gaza.
