It's 40 years old. But it feels like 28 — 28 degrees that is.
7-Eleven is celebrating the ruby anniversary of the Slurpee. The company started offering the drinks back in 1965. But it wasn't until a couple of years later when someone coined the term "Slurpee" for the sound it makes going through the straw. Since then, 7-Eleven says it has sold more than 6 billion of them. An average of half-a-million Slurpees are slurped every day now.
The city that buys the most of them? Winnipeg, Canada.
NASA says its Deep Impact (search) mission was a complete success. But according to one astrologer in Russia, the whole thing was a total disaster.
On the Fourth of July, NASA smashed a satellite into a comet to find out exactly what shooting stars are made of. But this Russian woman — filing a lawsuit against NASA — claims that by blowing a hole in the comet, we've altered its orbit "ever so slightly," ruining what she calls "the natural balance of forces in the universe." And, that, she says has interfered with her horoscope.
She's demanding $300 million dollars for her "moral sufferings". No comment from NASA.
