An annual reunion for winners of the Congressional Medal of Honor is coming up in New York state — along with the 100th birthday of the oldest living recipient.
John Finn, Frank Currey and Nick Oresko are members the exclusive club. The 99-year-old Finn and 83-year-old Currey got together Friday morning to begin a weekend gathering near Albany.
The two men met at a similar reunion in 1946.
Oresko notes the gathering will be during the original date of Memorial Day — May 30.
Congress in the 1960s moved the Memorial Day observance to the last Monday in May to create a three-day weekend.
The medal is the nation's highest military award for valor. Fewer than 100 recipients are still living.
