A prosecutor has filed 10 counts of negligent homicide against a trucker who slammed into a line of stopped cars in northeastern Oklahoma. Ten people died in the June 26 wreck.

Ottawa County District Attorney Eddie Wyant said he filed the misdemeanor charges Monday against Donald L. Creed of Willard, Mo. Each charge carries up to one year in a county jail.

Police have said Creed's inattention caused the accident. Investigators found no evidence the 76-year-old tried to brake or take evasive action.

Creed's attorney, Rob Coffey, did not immediately return a call for comment.

Wyant said there was no indication that Creed was under the influence of an intoxicant when the accident occurred. If he had been, that could have meant felony charges rather than misdemeanors.
