An Ohio driver has pleaded guilty to charges he skipped out on his $100 restaurant bill and ran over a bartender who tried to stop him, paralyzing the woman from the waist down.
Michael Rose faces up to 32 years in prison when sentenced Dec. 8. The 43-year-old Rose pleaded guilty Monday to four counts of aggravated vehicular assault and other charges in Franklin County Common Pleas Court.
Prosecutors say the bartender, the restaurant's co-owner and a patron pursued Rose to a parking lot May 15. All were struck and injured when Rose sped away in a Jeep Cherokee.
Bartender Rachel Widomski's spinal cord was severed in two places. Rose turned himself in to Columbus police two days later.
