Obama's Record-Setting Ability to Dodge Reporters' Questions

Mr. Transparency?

President Barack Obama's ability to dodge reporters' questions is now one for the record books.

According to Joseph Carl of The Washington Times, Monday marked the 215th day since the Anointed One has held a formal nationally televised press conference.

For all the reporters that griped about George W. Bush not holding enough press conferences, after just over one year in office, President Obama's streak is already longer than any break between formal pressers during the eight years of the Bush administration.

But to be fair to the president, the last time he gave a prime-time news conference it did not exactly go well. Remember when he was asked about the arrest of his friend, Harvard professor Henry Gates?

Stimulus Shocker

Millions of unemployed Americans are still probably wondering what exactly President Obama's stimulus did to help the economy — it's a tough question that even the Obama administration has a difficult time explaining. But an editorial in Investor's Business Daily sums up one of the stimulus' biggest achievements: It actually raised unemployment.

This is not a joke. The article quotes minutes from the Federal Reserve's Open Market Committee's January meeting that read, "Several extensions of emergency unemployment insurance benefits appear to have raised the measure of the unemployment rate."

All things considered, the editorial estimates that the stimulus added two percentage points to the unemployment rate.

Congratulations, Mr. President.

Major Mistakes

New details are emerging about warning signs that may have been missed by Army officials in the run-up to the massacre at Fort Hood. According to The Boston Globe, Major Hasan's erratic behavior may have been intentionally overlooked because the Army did not want to lose one of its only Muslim psychiatrists.

That shocking revelation comes after The Globe was given access to extensive Pentagon records on Hasan. However, that access was granted under the condition that The Globe could not name any Army officials who declined to act on Hasan's suspicious behavior.

The Globe also uncovered details about an August 2007 presentation given by Hasan that was ultimately shut down after he appeared to be "defending terrorism."

It's pretty unbelievable that the Army may have overlooked the terrorist's extremist views in order to protect its diversity numbers.

Global Warming Goof

These days the so-called science behind global warming appears to be melting faster than all the snow in the Northeast.

The latest false data being retracted is in regards to the rising sea levels. According to the U.K.'s Guardian newspaper, a scientist who once claimed that global warming could cause the sea level to rise by 2 1/2 feet by the end of the century now says he has no idea if in fact that's the case.

Mark Sidall's study was originally published in a well-respected science journal back in 2009, but he is now withdrawing his report after mistakes were uncovered that have called his findings into question. According to Sidall, "Retraction is a regular part of the publication process. Science is a complicated game and there are set procedures in place that act as checks and balances."

I guess it's back to the drawing board for all of these global warming alarmists.
