A 13-year-old middle school student was killed when her bicycle collided with a Charlotte-Mecklenburg school bus.

The Charlotte Observer reported Friday that Shcrissony Potts died after she rode her bike into the side of a bus taking students home from school. The driver of the bus and six passengers were not injured.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said a tractor-trailer blocked Shcrissony's view as she rode her bicycle north on Tryon Street and into an intersection. A police spokesman said the bus had a green light, and that from all indications, the bus driver didn't have time to avoid the collision.

Another bus arrived to transport the students.
