Since the dawn of minivan time in 1984, Chrysler has played the role of Big Brother, dominating the sales charts every year.

Even today, the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town and Country twins hold on to more than 40 percent of the market, according to Motorintelligence.com, and are hoping to keep it that way with all-new minivans introduced in 2008.

Available with everything from three television screens to a fold-out table, Chrysler continues to attract buyers by one-upping the competition with innovative features and a large selection of models to choose from.

For 2008, that means you can buy what Chrysler calls the most fuel efficient minivan priced under $30,000. Depending on whom you ask, they’re right, but as you’ll find out, it’s a little more complicated than that.

Nevertheless, the Dodge Grand Caravan SE and Chrysler Town and Country LX get 17 mpg city/24 highway and are both available for under $25,000. You can even opt for Flex-Fuel versions that give you more options at the pump, but mileage drops to 11 city/17 highway when running on E85.
