A Danville, New Hampshire, man has died after his pickup truck went over a guardrail on Interstate 93 in Andover, Massachusetts, and landed upside down in a brook.

A kayaker discovered the overturned truck in a brook near the Shawsheen River about 36 hours after the accident and called police. It took firefighters about half an hour to free the man.

Massachusetts State Police say the 54-year-old man was taken to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. His name was being withheld by police until they can find and notify his family.

The man was conscious when he was found. Police say he had head and chest injuries, was wet and was suffering mild hypothermia.

Police don't yet know the cause of the crash, but say the truck may have hydro-planed in heavy rain on Thursday evening.
