CAIRO, Egypt – Al Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri has accused Iran of working with U.S. forces in Afghanistan and Iraq in his latest video message.
Excerpts of message have appeared on Arab news channel Al-Jazeera and it is timed to mark the anniversary of the Sept. 11 attacks.
The network received a copy of the 90-minute tape, which an Al-Jazeera editor told Reuters was a compilation that included new material.
Al-Zawahiri accuses Iran of "cooperating with the Americans in occupying Iran and Afghanistan" and slams it for recognizing the governments there, in the excerpts shown Monday.
Al-Zawahiri also criticized the Shiites for not calling for a jihad in Iraq and taking up arms against the "Crusader occupier" there.
