LAS VEGAS – Nevada police released the name of a person of interest Friday in connection with a child pornography video, which showed a man performing explicit sex acts on a younger, still unidentified girl believed to go by the first name Madison.
Chester Arthur Stiles, 37, is wanted for questioning in connection with the sex tape, believed to have been made between 2003 and January 2005.
"We're not going to stop, regardless, until this girl is rescued, until we find out her disposition," Nye County Sheriff Anthony L. DeMeo said at a press conference.
Stiles is wanted on a previous Las Vegas warrant for sexual assault and lewdness with a minor under 14 years of age, according to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Web site.
Officials also released what they believe to be the first name of the unidentified girl, Madison, who appears to be 4 or 5 at the time of the filming. She has a significant birthmark.
"The most important thing right now we're looking for is the identity of the female, get her help, find out who she is and get her help, and see that what we can do is resurrect her life," DeMeo said. "It's a very sad situation she finds herself in."
DeMeo hoped that a neighbor, caregiver or relative would tell authorities who the child is.
"We believe that maybe the mother may not come forward with that information," DeMeo said. "We allege, based upon what we saw on the video, that this was not the first time that this young lady, this young girl, was subjected to this kind of abuse."
Earlier Nye County Sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz told FOX News that tips from the public have been vital to the case.
"We're working several extremely hot tips," he said.
On Thursday, cops said they had found an older girl who appeared in the tape "safe and well."
The girl who was found, who detectives earlier said they believed was 10 to 12 years old, was not sexually abused and "never suffered as a victim at the hands of the perpetrator as the first girl has," Boruchowitz said.
The part of the video showing the older girl was shot in Nye County, a rural county near Las Vegas, Boruchowitz said. The scenes in which the older girl appeared seemed to have been filmed by a Peeping Tom through a window on Oct. 16, 2005, he said.
Boruchowitz earlier characterized a segment of the tape showing the older girl as "some kind of peep show" filmed from a different room. Investigators were examining whether parts of the tape showing the younger girl were filmed with the same video camera, he said.
Detectives grappled with going public, Boruchowitz said.
"Unfortunately we really had no choice and decided that for this girl's safety based on the situation that we know for a fact she was in at one point — and for all intents and purposes we assume she's still in — that we had to act and that the public was the only option," Boruchowitz told FOX News.
A 26-year-old Pahrump man, Darren Tuck, surrendered the tape to Nye County sheriff's investigators Sept. 8 after another man reported seeing it, Boruchowitz said. Tuck later was arrested on charges of promoting child pornography and possession of child pornography, both felonies, and released without bail pending an appearance Nov. 26 in Pahrump Justice Court. The top charge carries a possible sentence of up to life in prison.
Tuck told detectives he found the videotape in the desert outside Pahrump more than five months ago. Boruchowitz said investigators don't think Tuck made the tape.
"Exhibiting pornography in the state of Nevada is a life sentence," DeMeo said.
Pahrump is a small town 60 miles west of Las Vegas.
The Associated Press generally does not identify or release photos of suspected victims of sexual abuse but is doing so in this case in the interest of the girl's safe recovery.
