NEW YORK – It's time for a good old-fashioned dance-off.
Kelly Monaco (search) and John O'Hurley (search) will return for a rematch of the "Dancing with the Stars" (search) finale, ABC announced Thursday.
The encore performance, dubbed a "dance-off," will air Sept. 20 (8:30 p.m. ET) with a results show set for Sept. 22.
Monaco, a 29-year-old actress from ABC's "General Hospital," and her professional dancing partner bested O'Hurley on the hit ballroom dancing competition show on July 6. O'Hurley is famous for playing catalogue king J. Peterman on NBC's "Seinfeld."
The victory was viewed by many as an upset over the popular O'Hurley and prompted skepticism over whether Monaco had been favored because she worked on another ABC program. The network has denied such claims.
For the rematch, each pairing will perform Latin, ballroom and freestyle dances. Unlike the original 6-week series, though, they will be judged by only viewer votes, rather than a combination of votes and judge scoring.
"Dancing with the Stars" will return for a second season, but ABC is yet to announce a date for its premiere.
When asked in July whether she was up for a rematch, Monaco said, "Bring it on. You want a dance-off, come on up here. I'll give you a dance-off."
