Markets to Close Friday for Reagan Funeral

The New York Stock Exchange (search), Nasdaq Stock Market (search) and American Stock Exchange (search) will close Friday in observance of the national day of mourning for former President Ronald Reagan.

Trading for the week will end on Thursday, and resume on Monday, June 14.

Most U.S. commodities markets will also be closed, although there will be some abbreviated trading in some contracts during the morning. Bond markets were also expected to be closed.

Currency trading was expected to continue, as many banks were expected to remain open.

Friday was officially designated a day of mourning over the weekend by President Bush.

Reagan died at his Los Angeles home Saturday at the age of 93 after a 10-year battle with Alzheimer's disease (search). A state funeral for the former president will be held at the National Cathedral in Washington, Friday morning.
