Dramatic pictures were released of a thug in a Halloween mask setting off a large industrial-style firework in a small convenience store in Bolton, England, on Monday night.

A baby narrowly escaped serious injury when the man, dressed in a dark cloak and "Scream" mask, set off the huge pyrotechnic.

CCTV stills show the man hurling the firework into the shop, sending around 200 colorful rockets bouncing off the walls and shelves emanating from a ball of flames and smoke from the initial explosion.

The shopkeeper managed to kick the firework out onto the shop porch.

But his 15-month-old son was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital as a precaution after vomiting due to smoke inhalation.

The firework is believed to have been a Fantasia 218 and police were seeking tips from any retailers who may have sold the brand to anyone.

Inspector Tony Kenyon of Greater Manchester Police said: "This was one of the worst incidents I have ever seen of someone abusing a lit firework and endangering lives.

"It could be described as an industrial-style firework with up to 200 repeat rounds so the risk of endangering life was very high."

Anyone with information is asked to call police on 0161 856 5761 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
