NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – A 31-year-old man has been arrested as the suspect in a New Britain home invasion that resulted in one woman being shot and wounded and another taken hostage.
The break-in occurred between 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sunday at home on Woodhaven Drive.
A few hours later, police in Watertown recovered a car that had been stolen from the home and arrested a suspect, Leslie Williams. However, the hostage, MaryEllen Welsh, was missing.
Police say Walsh has been undergoing treatment for cancer and there was no new information on her whereabouts early Monday.
The other woman was sent to Hartford Hospital in serious condition.
