A 50-year-old Michigan man is accused of torching his boss' Oakland County home.

The Detroit Free Press reports Wendell Ross, of Sterling Heights, Mich., was arraigned Wednesday in Rochester Hills on an arson charge. He faces a maximum 20-year prison sentence if he's convicted.

Two Michigan State Police troopers stumbled on the alleged crime Sunday after seeing a car parked at a weigh station off I-75. The officers followed tracks in the snow toward a neighborhood in Orion Township.

They saw a man identified as Ross running toward them before hearing an explosion.

Police say Ross told them he was checking on the home while his boss was in Florida.

Ross is due back in court on Thursday. He does not yet have an attorney.
