A man accused of fatally shooting three people and wounding two others waived extradition on Thursday and will return to face charges in West Virginia.
Keith R. Jeffers, 30, said little during a brief court appearance. Prosecutors said West Virginia authorities were expected to take immediate custody.
Jeffers was arrested Tuesday after he got a flat tire on Interstate 81, just outside Harrisburg. A trooper who stopped to help discovered through a computer check that Jeffers was wanted for the killings earlier that day in Amandaville, W.Va.
At an arraignment and bail hearing Wednesday, Jeffers denied being at the home.
Public defender Diane L. Morgan, who represented Jeffers during the extradition hearing, said they spoke only briefly. She had no comment on the homicide case and said she did not know if Jeffers had obtained a lawyer regarding those charges.
The victims were five men and a woman in their 30s and 40s. The two shooting survivors were listed in fair condition Thursday at Charleston Area Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said. A sixth person escaped by jumping through a window and was treated for cuts.
