NEW YORK – Lord of the Rings, The Business of Strangers, Deuces Wild and Chelsea Walls in the Foxlight.
It was one of my 10 best movies last year and the video release this week won't change my mind. Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring is smart, funny, dazzling and utterly captivating. The only complaint? Liv Tyler is in the preview of the movie longer than the actual film. Expect lots of magical extras. This is the perfect at-home exam for the next installment due in theaters this fall.
And now for something completely different. Stockard Channing is a long way from The West Wing as an aggressive business woman drawn into a deadly game of corporate cat and mouse with protege Julia Stiles. It's called The Business of Strangers. Great acting from both make this festival favorite a great rental.
Deuces Wild was supposed to be West Side Story without the music. But almost no one was wild about the film when it was released a few months ago. Maybe "Snake Eyes" would be a more appropriate title.
