John Kerry has broken his silence about John Edwards's marital infidelity.
The 2004 Democratic presidential nominee says he feels "very, very badly" for the Edwards family, especially Elizabeth Edwards and the couple's three children.
Kerry tapped the former North Carolina senator to serve on their party's ticket four years ago, but since then they've gone their separate ways. Edwards made a second bid for the presidency and is now out of public office, while Kerry is seeking re-election to the Senate.
Edwards said two weeks ago he had an affair with former campaign worker Rielle Hunter in 2006, but he denied he was the father of the baby she had in February.
Kerry initially had no comment on the matter, but he offered remarks Monday after a campaign stop in Worcester.
