The Chapel Hill, N.C., presidential campaign office of Democratic contender John Edwards was evacuated Thursday after a suspicious package was found at the headquarters.

"We received a suspicious package at our campaign headquarters this morning. On the advice of the authorities, we evacuated the building and will continue to take every possible precaution," Edwards Deputy Campaign Manager Jonathan Prince said in a statement.

The Durham Sheriff's Department bomb squad was en route to the scene early Thursday. This is not the first time this office has been evacuated -- it was cleared out on March 14 due to a "powder scare,:

Edwards is in Detroit, Michigan Thursday for the NAACP annual convention. No injuries have been reported at his campaign site.
