John Edwards Campaign HQ Evacuated After Suspicious Package Found

The Chapel Hill, N.C., presidential campaign office of Democratic contender John Edwards was evacuated Thursday after a suspicious package was found at the headquarters.

"We received a suspicious package at our campaign headquarters this morning. On the advice of the authorities, we evacuated the building and will continue to take every possible precaution," Edwards Deputy Campaign Manager Jonathan Prince said in a statement.

Edwards is in Detroit, Michigan Thursday for the NAACP annual convention. No injuries have been reported at his campaign site.
