Family and followers of jailed white supremacist leader Matthew Hale (search) say they feel relieved and vindicated, now that police think they know who killed a federal judge's husband and mother.

Police believe that a Chicago electrician who killed himself during a Wisconsin (search) traffic stop this week was responsible, and that he was the lone killer.

While expressing relief, some of Hale's supporters also expressed frustration that the news media and police seemed to focus on them almost immediately after the slayings.

Although investigators repeatedly cautioned against a rush to judgment, they acknowledged Hale's supporters and other fringe-group followers were a focus of their efforts.

Hale was convicted of soliciting the murder of the judge herself, after she ruled against him in a trademark dispute. He is scheduled for sentencing next month.
