When a deer smashed through the door of a Bucks County, Pa., hair salon, Randy Goepfert says he saw no choice but to grab it by the neck and slam it to the ground.
About four children, three hairdressers and two mothers were in the Holiday Hair salon in Quakertown Plaza when the deer crashed through the glass Tuesday.
Goepfert says he was paying for 11-year-old Tyler Goepfert's haircut. He says the white-tailed buck with 4- to 6-inch antlers "was charging right at my son, so I decked him."
The deer shook him off but he chased it into a back room and barricaded it with chairs until police and a state Game Commission officer arrived.
''I weigh 225 pounds and he threw me right off,'' Goepfert told The Morning Call. ''I couldn't believe that they're that strong an animal.''
Quakertown Officer Josh Mallery says the deer had a broken jaw and cuts on its neck, and had to be euthanized. The salon was left with a blood-covered floor, scattered hair products and a broken door, The Morning Call reported.
