Group to Pay Canadian Children in Grades 5-8 to Quit Smoking
An anti-smoking group is offering $5,000 Canadian to non-smokers and smokers in the fifth through eighth grades to quit smoking or stay smoke-free through high school.
A group called Rewarding Everyone Who Acts Responsibly and Doesn't Smoke, or R.E.W.A.R.D.S., is launching the campaign country-wide in conjunction with National Non-Smoking Week, which begins Sunday, CBC.ca reports.

Students must sign a contract pledging to remain smoke-free at least until graduation. The goal is to sign up 100,000 students, who will receive the money upon graduation if they meet all of the program's criteria.
