A State Department contractor is pleading guilty to snooping into the passport files of celebrities and politicians.
Lawrence C. Yontz, of Arlington, Va., has been charged with unauthorized computer access, a misdemeanor.
Yontz's lawyer, David Laufman, says his client "accepts responsibility for his actions (and) is fully cooperating with the government."
Several contract workers have been fired since March, when it came to light that the passport records of presidential candidates had been breached.
According to documents filed in U.S. District Court in Washington, Yontz inappropriately accessed passport application files of "athletes, actors, politicans and their immediate families, musicians, game show contestants, (and) members of the media corps."
