Germany's most famous set of lovebirds now have a new home.

Petra the black swan and her boyfriend, a swan-shaped plastic paddleboat, were moved to a winterized home Wednesday so they could spend the snowy season "zusammen" — together — in Muenster, Germany.

The couple first caught attention in 2006, when visitors noticed the black swan's peculiar attraction to the gleaming paddleboat at Aasee lake, Der Spiegel reports.

Normally, the paddleboats are pulled in for the winter so the vessels won't crack in the ice, but Petra — who German officials first named Peter under the assumption she was a he — couldn't take the separation from her strong, silent mate. The pair spent the winter of 2006 in the comforts of the pigeon shelter at the city's Allwetterzoo.

On Wednesday, the duo returned to the zoo, where Petra has a new winterized hutch, and construction plans are in the works to build the lovebirds a more permanent all-weather home.
