German Man Charged for Neo-Nazi March in Serbia

Serbia's police say they have filed charges against a German and 14 Serbian citizens for attacking officers during a neo-Nazi march in Belgrade.

A police statement issued Monday did not identify the suspects who allegedly took part in the gathering of far-right groups in the Serbian capital on Saturday, during which 34 suspected neo-Nazis were arrested.

Except for small skirmishes and verbal exchanges, police say there were no serious incidents reported between some 500 far-right supporters and hundreds of anti-Nazis who staged a parallel protest.

Serbia has seen a rise of far-right nationalism in recent years, fueled by its loss of Kosovo — the cherished former Serbian province that declared independence in February — and economic woes.
