Each day 1.9 million people take to the skies, carried in airlines bound for destinations across the world. These days, air travel has become routine.
But on July 17, 1996 the unthinkable happened. Minutes after take off, a 747 destined for Paris exploded off of the coast of Long Island, New York, killing all on board.
As the salvage of TWA 800 began, so did the search for an explanation.
Could a small spark cause the huge explosion of TWA 800?
Were the aging fuel pumps adjacent to the center fuel tank to blame?
What lies behind the aircraft’s surprising connection to the Iranian government?
And, what about those theories that suggested a mistake by the U.S. Navy downed the aircraft?
This weekend, join host Eric Shawn as Fox News Channel puts the tragedy of TWA 800 in focus.
