MINNEAPOLIS – If you'd like to live in the boyhood home of former Vice President Walter Mondale, it's for sale on eBay.
Mondale's father moved the family into the house, in the southern Minnesota town of Elmore, around 1937. It was built in the 1880s as a parsonage for a Methodist church.
When Mondale launched his 1984 presidential bid, he did so from the back steps of the house.
Lorrie Krosch bought the two-story house in 2003 and said she's spent more than three years refurbishing it.
"When I bought it, it was so run-down it could have been knocked down," said Krosch, who bought the house at 208 E. Mondale St. in 2003 for $15,000.
During a Friday morning interview on WCCO-AM, Mondale said he lived in the "lovely little home" for about 10 years. He had no hard feeling about how it's being sold.
"The owners are lovely people, and they're trying to do it in the best possible way," he said.
The asking price is $50,000.
