ROCKVILLE, Md. – Montgomery County police say a former teacher has been arrested for allegedly distributing cocaine to students from Thomas S. Wootton High School.
Police say 44-year-old Theresa Cunningham Duarte distributed cocaine to students more than once from her Rockville home. She was charged Monday with two counts of distribution of a controlled dangerous substance and two counts of contributing to conditions of a child.
Police say Duarte was a substitute teacher at Einstein High School in Kensington for the 2003-04 school year. She became a full-time teacher at Wootton High School in Rockville in July 2004. She resigned from that post at the end of last school year, for unknown reasons.
Officials say there may be other students who received illegal drugs from Duarte.
