Florida Man Uses Infant as Stun Gun Shield, Police Say

A 39-year-old Deltona man is facing criminal charges after using an infant as a shield for a stun gun.

Jorge Garcia has been charged of child neglect without great harm and resisting an officer without violence. He has been released from Volusia County jail on $6,500 bond.

According to a sheriff's office charging affidavit, Garcia was standing in the middle of a road where deputies were conducting a traffic stop early Friday morning. He was yelling profanities and acting irrationally.

Deputies tried to arrest Garcia, but he refused to leave a vehicle. A deputy pulled out a stun gun, then Garcia held the infant in front of him and told authorities to "Tase the baby."

A message for Garcia was not immediately returned.
