NEW YORK – A small fire broke out in Radio City Music Hall Monday during a performance of its "Christmas Spectacular," sending thousands of audience members into the street, along with the Rockettes, camels and Santa Claus.
The audience returned after 45 minutes, and the show went on, said Jonathan Tisch, chairman of the city tourism bureau, who was attending the program.
"Everybody left very quickly, very calmly," Tisch said. "The Radio City people did a great job."
A Fire Department spokesman said the blaze was reported in a third-floor storage closet and was under control within 20 minutes. No other details were immediately available.
