Police in the Lake District have been left baffled by the discovery of a man's body encased in ice.
The body was spotted by a local farmer, Cumbria police said.
But it was unclear how it came to be on the side of a field at Black Hall, near Broughton-in-Furness, nor how long it had been there.
The man's identity is not known, and police said the find was not being treated as suspicious.
A police spokeswoman said: "The body was found encased in 2 inches of ice.
"Police worked with Duddon and Furness Mountain Rescue Team to recover the body from the fell.
"Inquiries are now under way to identify the man.
"At this time police are satisfied there are no suspicious circumstances."
