An Egyptian security official says the death toll from this month's fatal rock slide in a shantytown just outside of Cairo has reached 103.
The official says that more bodies have been discovered as workers dug tunnels through massive boulders searching for human remains.
Giant rocks raced down from a cliff on Sept. 6, smashing the Dweiqa slum and burying dozens under the rubble. The incident drew a public outcry and the slum's families appealed to authorities for safer housing. Along with a huge death toll, the rock slide left the homes of many survivors on the verge of collapse.
The security official spoke Friday on condition of anonymity because he wasn't authorized to speak to the press.
