WASHINGTON – Washington's Metro subway system is asking riders to take precautions to avoid spreading swine flu, ranging from covering your mouth when sneezing to carrying tissues, hand-sanitizing gels, and disinfecting wipes.
Metro says it also is using an environmentally friendly disinfectant cleaner to wipe down surfaces throughout the system.
Metro Chief Safety Officer Alexa Dupigny-Samuels says good personal hygiene can cut the risk of catching the disease.
More than 1 million people ride Metro trains each day.
