A Crocs shoe company co-founder who resigned as a director last week was arrested on misdemeanor charges of threatening to slit his former brother-in-law's throat, police said.
George Brian Boedecker Jr., 44, was arrested May 27, a day after the confrontation in the law office of his sister's ex-husband, David Moorhead, the Daily Camera reported in Thursday editions.
According to a police report, Moorhead said Boedecker called him and said, "I'm going to slit your throat," then went to Moorhead's office and tried to start a fight. Moorhead told investigators Boedecker appeared drunk, the report said.
Boedecker faces misdemeanor charges of trespassing and threatening bodily injury. Each carries a sentence of up to 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine. He was released on $750 bail.
Neither Boedecker nor his attorney immediately returned phone messages left by The Associated Press. The report said Boedecker denied calling Moorhead's office. Moorhead declined to comment.
Boedecker resigned from the Crocs board on May 24, three months after the company's IPO raised $94.5 million. In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Crocs said Boedecker resigned for personal reasons and not because of any disagreement over how the company was being run.
He remains a stockholder in Crocs, which makes trendy, brightly colored resin sandals. The company, based in the small town of Niwot, 5 miles north of Boulder, went public in February and announced a secondary share offering last week.
Boulder County records show Moorhead recently sought a restraining order against Boedecker. It was not immediately clear whether it was granted.
Police spokeswoman Julie Brooks said a 2004 police report described an argument involving "fighting words" between Boedecker and an employee, but no charges were filed.
