DENHAM SPRINGS, La. – Livingston Parish authorities responding to a report of a robbery and beating at a Denham Springs Cracker Barrel this week say they instead found a store clerk who had fallen and hurt himself after allegedly drinking five pints of vodka.
The sheriff's office says 53-year-old James Vine was booked on charges including criminal mischief and theft, pertaining to the alcohol.
The department says Vine had a cut above an eye and gave responding deputies a suspect's description. But the sheriff's office says a review of the store's video surveillance system showed no robbery had occurred and that Vine had instead fallen and hurt himself.
Vine allegedly told deputies he had consumed five pints of vodka while at work.
