LOS ALAMITOS, Calif. – Orange County sheriff's deputies shot to death a man they said stole a patrol car and ran over a deputy's foot.

A sheriff's spokesman said two deputies were approaching a suspicious person about 7 p.m. Friday in Rossmoor when he jumped into a patrol car.
The man drove over a deputy's foot before the deputies opened fire. The car hit a light pole and the man was taken to a hospital, where he died.
His identity wasn't immediately released.
The deputy wasn't seriously injured.
