Chicago police have seized nearly $3 million worth of drugs from a Chicago apartment.

Authorities found nearly 20 pounds of meth, about 28 ounces of cocaine, and a TEC-9 9mm handgun.

Sergeant Richard Silva says they found items that were used in the production of the drugs, but do not know for sure if the drugs were made at the apartment on the city's northwest side.

Silva says there were nine trays of meth in the drying process and there was a stove.

He says authorities had a search warrant for the apartment that came because of an investigation.

“They were obviously doing some cooking there,” Sliva told MyFOXChicago. “Whether some of it was brought there [is under investigation], but there was stuff there that led us to believe they were cooking crystal methamphetamines there, cut and filler.”

Once police executed the search warrant and arrested the intended target, they retreated and called the fire department’s hazardous materials team, Sliva told MyFOXChicago.
