A sports car spinning out of control at Spokane County Raceway has killed a 68-year-old north Idaho man.
Spokane County sheriff's Sgt. Dave Reagan says the man, a contractor, had been standing off the track, behind chainlink fencing, and was talking with General Manager Jay Livingston when he was hit Friday. The victim was not immediately identified.
Reagan says a 46-year-old military retiree driving an Infinity G30 on the track's road course apparently lost control coming out of a curve and struck the contractor, throwing him 15 feet into a tree.
The spokesman says Livingston spotted the spinning car and tried unsuccessfully to pull the victim out of the way.
