A 26-year-old Connecticut woman and her triplets died after she gave birth at home, and it was not immediately clear why the woman didn't go to a hospital.
Police Detective Ben Trabka tells The Connecticut Post it appeared the triplets were carried full-term.
Shelton police on Wednesday identified the mother as Victoria Hope.
The woman's grieving mother, Frances Hope, tells The Associated Press she did not know whether her daughter knew she was pregnant. She says she suspected her daughter was pregnant, but never they talked about it.
Hope's mother found her and the triplets Tuesday afternoon and called police.
Frances Hope also says she didn't know how far along her daughter was in her pregnancy.
The state medical examiner's office says an autopsy has not yet begun.
