GOLDEN, Colo. – A five-month-old baby found dead early Thursday in a Denver suburb apparently died while his father left him to drink at a local bar.
Jefferson County authorities have charged 23-year-old Joseph Trujillo of Golden with first-degree murder in the death of his baby boy, who was not named.
The baby's grandmother, who lived with Joseph Trujillo and the baby, called 911 after being woken up just after midnight by the sound of Joseph Trujillio crying.
The grandmother says she found Joseph Trujillo holding the dead baby.
Police say that after interviewing Trujillo and the grandmother that they believe Trujillo left the baby alone in the apartment for six or seven hours while he went to a bar. He is being held without bond.
