A 30-year-old Ozark man was killed when a coal train hit a van he was driving near Springfield, Missouri.
Michael Biggs was pronounced dead Wednesday at the scene of the crash. Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Dan Bracker says Biggs was hit by a Burlington Northern-Santa Fe engine pulling empty coal cars as he crossed railroad tracks.
A Burlington Northern spokesman says the train's event recorder indicated the engine was going 39 mph when it hit the van.
Only one sign is at the crossing where the crash occurred.
