Clinton, Obama, Giuliani Rank as the Favorite Dinner Guests This Thanksgiving

Which presidential candidate would you invite over to talk turkey?

According to a poll from Quinnipiac University, Hillary Clinton is the one most families would want to share their Thanksgiving dinner with, followed by Barack Obama and Rudy Giuliani.

Maybe it's Obama's penchant for regaling hosts with tales of his life overseas as a child, or Clinton's folksy laugh — or even Giuliani's fabled homemade stuffing. But the leading candidates in the race for the White House were all pegged as the ones whose company would be most preferred this Thanksgiving.

The poll surveyed 1,636 voters from Oct. 23-29, with a 2.4 percent margin of error.

Glancing at recent national polls, it looks like far more people would vote for Clinton than invite her over for dinner, but she still takes the lead in this poll. Among the Democratic candidates, Clinton got 27 percent, followed by Obama with 24 percent and former North Carolina Sen. John Edwards with 13 percent (742 Democrats responded, +/- 3.6 percent).

Among Republican candidates, Giuliani scored highest with 22 percent. Arizona Sen. John McCain followed close behind with 17 percent, and former Tennessee Sen. Fred Thompson made his way into the top three with 14 percent (678 Republicans responded, +/- 3.8 percent).

Interestingly, Mitt Romney — whose message of morality might boil down to a good toast at the dinner table — only picked up 7 percent.

And this was one list former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee couldn't shake up. The GOP candidate who's seen his popularity surge in Iowa still couldn't get a place at the Thanksgiving table. Only 5 percent of those polled named Huckabee as their guest of choice.
