Seattle’s City Hall employees have been warned: a possible popcorn ban is cooking.
The Fleet and Facilities Department threatened to ban the microwaveable snack in city buildings because of frequent smoke-alarm evacuations sparked by burning kernels, according to a report in the Seattle Times. Since the fire department must respond every time an alarm goes off the ordeal takes at least a half-hour out of the workday.
“It's been pretty disruptive,” city spokesman Marty McOmber told the paper.
